Larissa Liska currently serves as the WLTZ Sports Anchor/MMJ at beautiful Columbus, Georgia, deep in SEC territory. In Georgia, it's all about sharing stories of the local teams and athletes and covering all the action for Auburn, Alabama and Georgia college sports. Larissa previously worked at WBKB as a Sports Director in Alpena and at KSAT 12 in San Antonio as a Sports Producer for two years where she created stories for local sports, the Spurs and more. Reporting closer to home in Texas is Larissa's dream.
Larissa earned her Bachelor of Journalism at the University of Texas at Austin, which is where she obtained a certificate with UT's first 3D Production program and volunteered at Texas Student Television in the sports department. Off campus, Larissa spent her time as an intern at KUT Radio and FOX 7 Sports Austin. She also competed for the UT Racquetball Club, and is a 3-time National Collegiate Racquetball competitor.
In college, she traveled to Leeds, England on a Maymester study abroad trip and studied Sport in English Society where she attended a rugby and cricket match, toured the Manchester United soccer stadium and Lord's Cricket Grounds in London, England and cycled on the Manchester Velodrome track. In England, she researched a lot about their class system and culture, as well as how sports affects their every day lives.
Some interesting facts about Larissa:
She graduated as salutatorian of her class in 2011 at George West High School and was President of her senior class and UIL club.
She showed goats and steers through 4-H and FFA.
In third grade, she won Grand Champion goat at the Live Oak County Fair.
She participated in track and field from kindergarten through high school.
In third grade, she competed in Long Jump at Summer Track Nationals in Virginia.
